Last year, Karunakaran a veteran of Kerala politics, broke away from Congress to start his own party. Reason: His son Muraleedharan was not given some post of importance by the congress high command. As is politically usual, now he is contesting together with Congress in the upcoming assembly elections. Nothing special, but the following headline in Outlook Magazine dated April 03,2006 caught my eyes :
Pinarayi Vijayan is facing an intra-party war, while veteran K. Karunakaran has struck a deal with the Congress. His DIC(K) will contest in 18 seats.
DIC(K) stands for Democratic Indira Congress Karunakaran...I could not stop laughing at the headline and the party's name.
