This seems to be the reaction of standard XII students who appeared for the Physics board exam.
The present question paper model is quite different from the one which I wrote in 2000. It has lot more one mark questions thrown in (so that the students can do away with TNPCEE). I think this change is for the better.
Of all the cries for re-examinations, this one seems to be the best. "The test has to be cancelled and there should be a re-test". Reason: The paper was difficult.
The teachers are worried because their wards will not get centums. Their reasoning for the re-test: "This is a very difficult paper. Only if the student has undergone a rigorous training equivalent to an entrance exam preparation, he would be able to score in the one-mark questions. There would not be a single centum scorer this year in the entire state, so the best way out is to conduct a re-test". Outrageous.
The students' claim is also not less interesting. Since the syllabus has changed this year, they expected the paper to be easy and have prepared for one such. They have been 'let down' by the board. The only way for the board to reclaim the faith of students is to re-conduct the test - that too with a very easy set of questions. Outright funny.
(I wish some of us can join in chorus for a re-test of CAT 2005.)
