Kevin Pietersen - a quota dropout

The Demon...

Kevin Pietersen is the "ICC Emerging player of the year 2005", "ICC One day player of the year 2005", "Wisden cricketer of the year 2005". KP was born in Natal, South Africa. Enthusiastic, bold-minded and dominating as he is, got disenchanted with the quota system in South African cricket and moved to England, thanks to his mother's English nationality.

Muttiah Muralidharan told this after the First test at Lord's: "He played a brilliant innings, out of everyone Kevin played the best innings, he was dominating the bowlers and it was, I think, one of the best innings I've seen." He even terms Kevin Pietersen as the modern day great. Is it too early? I don't think so.

The way he murders the opposition, he reminds me of none other than Sir Vivian Richards. With the two contemporary greats -Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara - set to leave the International arena any time now, Cricket needs stars like Kevin Pietersen to sustain its charm. I am a great fan of this guy and wish he remains consistent and flamboyant.
